Your Schedule, Your Way
Homeschooling can be quite the experience. There is quite a lot to learn. Legal requirements, testing requirements, and of course there is the course material. Most of us don’t already know this stuff. Sure you know quite a bit but unlikely everything. However, learning school grade mechanics again can be interesting as well. You pick up on things you didn’t pick up on when you were going through school. It can be fun! Let’s talk about schedule. Should you go along with the typical/normal school schedule? You know 7-2ish, winter breaks, summer breaks, etc.? You can but why would you? You don’t have to! Remember, it’s your homeschool. You make the rules! The schedule is based on nothing except what you want it to be. Work it into what makes the most sense to you. If you want to start at noon, because you sleep in, then do so. You can even start later than that or earlier. You can start as early as 4 or 5am in the morning. You can homeschool on Saturdays when things or most hectic in the world and take another/or other days to do “Saturday” things. The point is you don’t have to align your efforts with the “norm” school structure. Quite honestly, you shouldn’t! If you wanted to go along with the school and the way they do it, then why are you homeschooling? Make your homeschool, course work, schedule, etc. align to who you are. What makes sense to you and what you are most comfortable with. Remember, you are in charge! You set the pace, the rules, etc. Don’t conform to the school standard, that’s why it’s your homeschool.
