Hooray, COOL! Time for Homeschool!
Having fun while learning in a POSITIVE environment.

Here are my two tortoise Spunky and Rarity. I’ve had them long enough to be use to them while still learning about them. They are somewhat simple to take care of once you get the habitat stuff down. Here are a few pictures of them and their habitat. I’ve got plans to improve their habitat later this year. I’ll be expanding their territory to the other side of their enclosure. I’m sure they will enjoy the additional space. I read it takes about a decade for them to reach maturity and they are suppose to get up to approximately 10”.
Initially I started with the layout you see here with the "substrate" all over the place. Eventually, I tried to make it a little neater/tidier with the layout you see with the substrate in a nice little black box. Makes cleanup much easier. I also got a water dish that makes it easier for them to get in and out of.
Next summer I’ll be working on their outside – intermediate term habitat. Let them enjoy the sun and hot weather outside….keep you posted.

Here are Spunky and Rarity, my tortoise. They are both doing well and growing. I've made a few changes to their habitat and think we've perfected it. They like to help with the arranging of it. Mainly I got them a much larger box to hold the substrate and provided an incline so they can walk into it.
How do I tell them apart? Well, Rarity has three large black dots on her shell while Spunky has four. Easiest way! They get along quite nicely! As for diet, they like hibiscus flowers and a little fruit daily isn't a problem for them. Unlike Spiney (my iguana), not the best idea for him.
I have also finished their summer retreat/habitat. It's similar to their home and Violet's (along with Java) as well. The difference is that it is outside in the sun so they get the heat from the sun. It hasn't been as hot out yet for them but, I'm sure we'll get there. I found this awesome water dish with an incline that is perfect for them. It also doubles as a summer retreat/habitat for Java and Violet (my geckos) as well.
I still have more plans for full outside habitat/sun bathing for them. That is probably a bit of a was off. As for my next project for them, I'm going to create a winter habitat for them.

I have two new updates as it pertains to my tortoise, Spunky and Eden. First is that Rarity has been renamed "Eden". I thought I'd posted that already but if not she's actually Eden (Rarity). They are both are doing awesome!
Secondly, I built one final habitat for them on my deck. The idea is to let them soak up some sun. I also put dirt in this one to make it more natrualistic. Pictures posted on the right. I'd thought about building one final habitat for them in my back lawn, much bigger. However, I'm thinking now I might let them wander around in the vegetable garden I'm going to create soon. We'll see how it goes.
